Hi.

I'm a private weather industry business leader with over 20 years of applied operations, sales and marketing experience.

A week in Oklahoma

What an amazing week of weather for our area! Monday, I chased a supercell across central Oklahoma. Thursday will be a possible chase-day and Friday will be snowy.
Welcome to a week in Oklahoma!

Steve Miller (the Texas version who is in town still from the Monday chase - can you believe there are two of us?), and I are eyeing the potential for severe weather along the Red River tomorrow afternoon / evening. I'll pull the trigger on a chase in the morning. It looks like this could be a sleeper. I'll need to see how everything looks on the 12z run.

The map above represents preparation in the form of watches and warnings for the next winter storm. Yes, the first week of Spring will provide what could quite possibly be one of the larger winter storms Oklahoma has seen, at least in the NW portions of the state. Buffalo, OK could see as much as 20" if the low continues to track the way the NAM progs. That said, SW Kansas is looking at potentially insane snowfall amounts of up to 30+ inches! I'll believe it when I see it but from what I've reviewed this evening on the models, it looks like a weekend to monitor the accumulations and related news.
I thought it was funny when I uploaded this map that there are currently tornado watches in TX and LA. What an interesting time of yer!
